Bed_Data logs sleeping patterns and the effects of the environment on sleep for the purpose of detecting this unconscious event that occurs in everyones life, on a daily basis.
Bed_Data includes a force sensor matrix, camera, temperature, light and sound sensors. Force sensors and camera detects sleeping and helps to display, and other sensors are showing how the environment changes during the night.
One of the possible user stories is, detecting what’s effecting users sleeping (in our case it was changes in room temperature) and alerting user by a automated phone call or making a smart house system that disables the reason that effects sleeping.
This version of Bed_Data is a collaborative project between Mustafa Bagdatli and Diego Rioja.

Second version of the Bed_Data is another collaboration between Mustafa Bagdatli & Tom Igoe & Diego Rioja and John Schimell. This time, it is for a user who has alzheimer disease.
Bed_Data version 2, uses one force sensor under the bed, that is connected to Pachube sensor data sharing platform. By using this, we can understand if the alzheimer patience is on the bed or not.
Our user for version 2, forgets going to bed, and we are creating a system that texts her family to help her if she is not in the bed after a certain time at night.
You can find more information about the second one on Tom Igoe’s blog.
